What is MCP?

We're excited to share a new step forward in Xvantage. MCP (Model Context Protocol) supercharges the AI assistant you already use, Claude, Copilot, and others, by securely connecting it to your live Ingram Micro data.

Here's what that means in practice. On its own, an AI assistant is smart but blind to your business: it can't see your orders, your pricing, or your renewals. Connect it through MCP, and it can.

Ask "what's the status of my order?", "what's my price on this SKU and is it in stock?", or "which renewals are coming due this quarter?" and your assistant pulls the answer from Ingram Micro's live systems and gives it to you in plain language, in seconds.

No coding, no complicated screens, no hunting through menus or exporting spreadsheets. You ask the question the way you'd ask a colleague; the assistant does the work.

Think of MCP as USB-C for AI: one simple connection, and any assistant that supports the standard can plug into your Ingram Micro data.

The result: less time gathering information, more time acting on it. Whether you're quoting a customer, checking stock before you commit, or planning around upcoming renewals, your team makes faster, better-informed decisions because the answers come from live data, on demand.

Getting Started

  1. Open the Integrations Hub and select the MCP Server app.
  2. Choose Enable and confirm you have a production Developer Portal account (guidance is provided if you don't).
  3. Select your production Developer Portal app.
  4. Copy your MCP URL (shown one time only) and paste it into your AI tool.
