MCP Server Prerequisites
What you need in place to enable MCP in the Xvantage Integrations Hub.
Once the prerequisites below are met, you can enable and configure the MCP Server app from the Integrations Hub in minutes. This page covers only what is needed to enable MCP.
Prerequisites Checklist
| # | Requirement | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Xvantage access with Integrations Hub | Your Xvantage account must have the Integrations Hub available. The MCP Server app is in the App Store catalog under AI & Automation (or search "MCP"). |
| 2 | Production Developer Portal account | Required to enable MCP. Register at Ingram Micro | Register for a Developer Account if you don't have one. |
| 3 | Email match | The email on your Developer Portal account must match the email of the user logged in to Xvantage. This is how the Hub locates your production apps during setup. |
| 4 | Registered Developer Portal app | A production app registered in the Ingram Micro Developer Portal. During setup you'll select it from a dropdown of apps assigned to your account. |
| 5 | Ingram Micro customer number and country | Needed during setup to bind the MCP connection to your account. |
| 6 | An MCP-capable AI tool | Any tool that supports MCP connections: Claude, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, or your own agent. Note: some tools require their own paid subscriptions (e.g., Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI API). |
What Happens After the Prerequisites Are Met
- Open the Integrations Hub, select the MCP Server app, and choose Enable.
- Confirm the Developer account requirement (the dialog offers View Guidance if you still need one).
- Enter your details, customer number, country, email, and select your Developer Portal app.
- Select Connect; your MCP URL is generated and shown one time only.
- Paste the URL into your AI tool and start asking questions.
Handle Your MCP URL Like a Password
- The URL embeds your authentication token; anyone with it can use it.
- It is displayed once at generation. Copy and store it securely; don't share it, email it, or post it in chat.
- Lost or exposed? Regenerate it anytime from Manage Apps → MCP Server → Integration Info. The old URL stops working immediately; update your AI tool with the new one.
Not Ready Yet?
| Missing | What to Do |
|---|---|
| No Developer Portal account | Register at the link above, wait for approval, then return to the Integrations Hub. |
| Developer Portal email doesn't match Xvantage login | Align the emails (register the portal account under your Xvantage login email, or sign in to Xvantage with the matching user). |
| No registered app in the portal | Create/register a production app in the Developer Portal first. The setup dropdown only lists apps assigned to your account. |
| No MCP-capable AI tool | Any MCP-supporting assistant works; check your tool's documentation for MCP support before starting. |
